The story of Attic woods began in the summer of 2023. It was a magical wonderland in the Autumn and this Winter, its charm is in full display. We're looking forward to discovering more in the Spring.

Our first look at this piece of land.
November 2022
Our second visit. We discovered Rock Brook actually passing through this property.
April 2023
Contract signed. Finally, this beautiful land is ours!
The picnic table was the very first "furniture" we placed on it.
June 2023
Due to the emerald ash borer (EAB) that was spread in this area, all ash trees in the woods were dead. For safety reasons, we removed twenty-three dead ash trees, most of which were more than 50 feet tall.

July 2023
Foundation of the greenhouse shed laid. It was very difficult to level all the lumber on the uneven field.
The foundation was laid on an anchor system to minimize the impact to surface soil and also make the whole structure removable.
With the main structure basically in place, there is also space underneath for rainwater to run through.

One of the most important and fun projects - The Saucer Swing!
Summer storm knocked down some trees.
This beech seems still alive with part of the bark still connected to the stump. We lift it up to make a natural garden arch. Hopefully it will sprout again next Spring.

Power!!!
An extra space for multi-function use. The most important function is to help visitors identify the boundary of the conservation easement.
Garden arbor build as the starting point to the nature trail. This path was originally paved by the deer.

After setting up wifi, security cam, gate and signage. We are winter ready.
Attic Woods will begin its hibernation.
Snowfall! Twice!
It does not just bring calmness, but also sprinkles its charm to the winter landscape.

We call it "How to grow a MUSEUM"
Winter is still here! While kids are having lots of fun with the snow, we are looking forward to celebrating Spring.
